In this study, the life cycle costs of railway projects involving hybrid diesel-electric vehicles are analysed. Specifically, analysis focuses on comparison 3 lithium-ion battery technologies (NMC, LTO and LFP) 8 energy management strategies (including rule-based optimization-based strategies). order to develop analysis, a methodology that returns cost each proposed case is presented. The includes optimization diesel generator sizing. A scenario based real line introduced, obtained results compared traditional vehicle techno-economical discussion. best found be NMC, most appropriated strategy state-machine controller optimised by genetic algorithm approach. obtains reduction 4.0% savings 13.7% vehicle. claimed potentially helpful for cost-optimal design operation definition powertrains vehicles.
